The SureShift 2 combines Formula 1 style multistage Shift Light display, Intelligent RPM Telltale and an ultra high accuracy tachometer in a single unique high performance system.
This light weight and easy to fit system is an ideal complement - or replacement - for conventional tachometers.

The SureShift 2 system comprises a Control module, Shift Light Display module, 3 metre wiring harness, fixing kit, user manual and quick reference guide.

With the latest technology, the SureShift 2 uses multistage Pre-shift and Shift
up lights to ensure the driver up shifts at the optimum RPM every change.
The unit also incorporates a Shift down/Low RPM warning light to instantly indicate
when the engine is out of the power band.
Unlike other Telltale devices, the SmartMax RPM differentiates between momentary
over-revs as a result of a missed gear or downshift, and longer periods of over-rev.
Both figures are recorded by the SmartMax system - providing vital data for
driver, race engineer and engine builder alike.
The SmartMax RPM memory can be configured to only record the Maximum RPM when
the engine is held at high RPM for a long period - for example in top gear on the
longest straight, or when holding a gear through a specific section of the circuit.
Alternatively the SmartMax Telltale can be set to record shorter events to
evaluate the driver's gear shifts - recording the Maximum RPM occurring when
a shift is made.
Engine builders note that the Control Module can also be used as a
standalone RPM recording device which will separate damaging over-rev events
from momentary buzzes.

Conventional Telltale devices only record the peak RPM that the ignition
system generates. This means that downshifts, or even ignition problems such
as points bounce can, and often do, record RPM values which are of little use.
The SmartMax memory only records a Maximum RPM value if the RPM
has been above that value for a sample period determined by
the user-selected 'SmartMax' filter. This configurability allows the user
to set up the SmartMax to record specific engine data.
As an example the SmartMax can be set up to ignore short duration
over revs occurring on a downshift or missed gear. However, the system
will still record the absolute Peak RPM value for each run as this,
with the SmartMax value, can provide vital data for more detailed
analysis.

In normal operation the Control Module provides a high accuracy readout of the
current engine RPM and at the press of a key the Max. RPM values for the last
run are recalled.
Using the keypad, the SmartMax RPM & Peak RPM for the last run can be displayed
on the LCD. Max RPM values for the previous 3 saved runs can also be
recalled at the press of a key.
The system can be programmed with 6 different configuration profiles to allow the user
to quickly change between different vehicle or driver setups.
For each profile the following parameters can be set using the keypad:
As the settings are stored in non volatile memory, the system will not lose
its configuration profiles or Telltale readings when power is removed. The
profiles and readings can therefore be changed or reviewed with the unit removed
from the vehicle if required.

The leftmost (orange) LED provides a Low RPM Warning/ Shift Down alarm and and can also
function as an Engine Running alarm.
The first green LED provides the first pre-shift warning indication. As RPM
increases sequential green followed by orange and red LEDs illuminate.
The shift lights can be set up for any RPM range and if desired all can be
programmed for the same RPM. Particularly for Drag racers the option of
having a single shift warning may be of interest.
At the Shift RPM the shift light array can be set to flash rapidly, or to
remain constantly illuminated.

The modules are designed to be fixed using "Dual Lock*" (supplied) and can be
mounted on any relatively flat surface. This mounting method means that there is no drilling,
cutting or fabrication required, and provides a strong fixing while still allowing the
modules to be easily removed and refitted as often as required.
If the control module cannot be fitted in an easily viewed position, it can be located so that
it can be removed for clear viewing when the vehicle is stationary.
Note: Although this system is designed for use in a racing environment, the control
module should be installed so that it is not exposed to direct water spray.
*Dual Lock is a registered Trade Mark of the 3M Company.
