Committee

Constitution

1. The Committee - The Committee will be voted for at the Annual General Meeting, any team being able to propose a member. The committee may, from time to time wish to co-opt a person to the committee and are free to do so if they wish. There will be committee meetings each month, usually on the first Monday and all teams are welcome to send a representative to the meeting unless previously advised that it is for committee only. The meetings will commence at 8-30 pm.

2. Rules - The official World Eight Ball Federation Rules rules will apply, there will be no nomination of pocket for the black ball. Details of the rules are available from the Rules Page on this site and copies of the rules are also available from the Fixtures Secretary if required. A copy of the rules must be displayed where players can refer to them if necessary.

3. Registration - Each team will be required to pay a registration fee to register any team per season. All players are to be registered at the start of the season, any additional players may be signed on at any time provided they have not played for any other team in the current season, and the players name has been put on the back of the score sheet. Players may only register for one team for any venue on any night, ie for the A or B team but not both. Landlords /Ladies and full -time bar staff may play for either team, but only one team per night

4. Transfers - Should any player wish to transfer from one team to another during the season they will be required to complete a transfer form signed by both captains and returned to the Fixtures Secretary. Transfers will be allowed until 50% of games have been played, after this time they will be at the discretion of the committee. After transferring a player must wait 7 days before playing.

5. Score Sheets - Score sheets are to be made up by 8-15 pm, matches are to commence by 8-30pm on Wednesdays and by 8-00 pm with matches starting at 8-15 pm on Sundays. Each captain will fill in a sheet and then exchange with opposing captain, 2 cards to be used. Each captain is responsible for sending their own sheet to the Fixtures Secretary. Sheets must be written out at the start of the match and players names or the order of play cannot then be altered. Substitutes must also be named before the start of play.

6. Matches - Wednesday 6 Singles - 3 Doubles Sunday 7 Singles - 3 Doubles Two points will be awarded for winning the match. In the event of a tie the aggregate score will be used. In the sunday leagues the singles and doubles scores will be separated and included in the relevant league totals.

7. Reserves - A team can nominate 2 reserves and they can be used after the 4th game. Reserves names to be on the card before the start of the match.

8. Age Limit - A team can use a maximum of 2 players between the ages of 14-18 in each game. The host Landlord / Landlady must be informed a minimum of 24 hours before the match of any under age players, it is left to His / Her discretion as to whether or not these players are allowed into the pub or club or allowed to play.

9. Cancellations - There will be NO cancellations of matches - the only exception being extremely bad weather conditions. If a team feel they have to cancel a match because of extenuating circumstances this must be notified to the Fixtures Secretary in writing, giving 7 days notice whereupon this will be discussed by the committee whether it is a valid reason and the committee will then inform them of their decision. Any team failing to fulfil a fixture will forfeit the corresponding game by the score lines listed below. In the case of a team not turning up for a match the match will be awarded to the team in attendance by the following score lines:- Wednesday 9-0 and Sunday 7-0 and 3-0 applying to the match in question only.

10. Late Arrivals - In the event of a team being 15 minutes late for a match one game may claimed by the team present and one game for every 10 minutes thereafter.

11. Referees - All referees are to make themselves conversant with the rules this also applies to all players. It is the responsibility of the captains to ensure that this is the case. Home teams to referee all league games and in the case of competitions both teams to referee alternately.

12. Coaching - No coaching will be allowed at any time during a singles game. Doubles partners may converse until the player addresses the table on the opening visit, after which no conversing may take place.

13. Tables - In the unlikely event of a table being unplayable because of a torn cloth, jammed coins etc. a re- match should be arranged as soon as possible and the Fixtures Secretary informed immediately. All captains should be aware that tables should be well lit and clean. If a table is deemed to be unplayable this must be rectified no later than the second game if not the match will be abandoned and must be reported to the committee on the same night of the match.

14. Disputes - If there is any dispute over the results or the playing of the game, the sheet should be marked accordingly and both teams will be invited to attend the next committee meeting where the matter can be discussed and decided. If you do not agree with the score on the sheets do not sign them, a signed score sheet forfeits any right to appeal against the scores. If neither team sends in result sheets both teams will forfeit their points.

15. Results - If the score sheets are not received by the Fixtures Secretary within 7 days both teams will lose their points and aggregate scores.

16. Lighting - Teams are required to have adequate lighting over the table and preferably a canopy.

17. Playing an unregistered player - Teams will lose that particular match if a complaint is made and justified by the opposing team.

18. Bans - Should it be necessary to ban a player from the league, the lenght of the ban will be decided by the committee. Players have the right to appeal in writing and have their case reviewed at a full “closed” committee meeting.

19. Holidays - No league games will be arranged for bank holiday week-ends. However players entering competitions should note it may be necessary to play on holidays.

20. Limit - There is a limit of 4 teams registered per venue per match night.

21 County Players - An unlimited number of registered county players may be signed on a team but only 3 may play in a Wednesday match. Only 3 may play in a Sunday singles match but 3 others may play in the doubles match. Only 3 players may play in a Thursday 3 man team match.

22. A.G.M. - This set of league rules dated 11th December 2000 supercedes any previous rules. Any changes thereafter cannot be made until the next A.G.M. Proposals to be made in writing to the Committee 28 days prior to the A.G.M. - date to be advised. All teams are eligible to vote at an open meeting, but only one vote per team.
